TikTok, Instagram, X and YouTube each pay some creators from their own pocket. None of them bans AI personas from these programmes in its published rules. What decides it is the same bar every creator faces, plus rules on originality, real account details and labels. Here is each programme, with its rule in the platform’s own words.
Checked against each platform’s own pages. Every row shows the date its sources were read. We re-read them every month.
The short answer
No platform here writes “no AI” into its payout rules. The often repeated line that TikTok excludes AI videos has no TikTok source that we could find.
The bar is high and the same for everyone. 10,000 followers on TikTok, 1,000 subscribers on YouTube, an invitation on Instagram, a paid Premium plan on X.
For a Fanvue business this is a bonus, not a plan. Do not build your month around it. How much AI influencers makeAffiliate linksshows where persona income comes from.
4 of 5 programmes take new members. Checked 5 October 2026.
TikTok’s eligibility page does not mention AI at all. It asks for original content “filmed, designed, and produced entirely by yourself” and lists what does not count: duets, stitches, reposts with small changes, slideshows of photos, and lip-syncs to music over a minute.
What people say
“TikTok excludes fully AI-generated videos from the Creator Rewards Program.”
Not in the platform’s rules We found this only on tool vendors’ blogs, with no TikTok link or date. TikTok’s own programme page, read on 5 October 2026, has no AI rule. That does not prove TikTok pays for AI video. It means the claim has no published TikTok source.
For a persona account
The page asks for your real name and date of birth in the account information, and rules out “a fake name”. TikTok does not say whether a persona’s display name counts. Read your own account details before you apply.
Instagram Bonuses
Invite onlyLimited time, by invitation only
Who can join
You cannot apply. Instagram invites accounts
Pays for the performance of reels and photos, including carousels and single image posts
The Bonuses page says nothing about AI. The rule that touches a persona is a different one: since 31 August 2026, a profile that shows an AI-generated person and has no AI-generated profile label can lose its place in recommendations.
For a persona account
Set the AI-generated profile label first. Instagram says creators who add it themselves “will not see a change to their profile’s reach”. A bonus that pays for performance needs that reach.

What it says about AI
“Effective March 3, 2026 users who post AI-generated videos of an armed conflict without adding a disclosure that it was made with AI will be suspended from the Original Content Rewards Program for 90 days.”
That is X’s only AI rule for the programme, and it is about war footage. Content is also ineligible if it “Was created or posted using automated means” or is “sexually explicit”. X does not say whether AI-generated images count as automated means.
What people say
“You need 5 million impressions in three months to get paid on X.”
Outdated That was the bar for Creator Revenue Sharing, which closed on 7 September 2026. Original Content Rewards asks for 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in 90 days.
For a persona account
X pays for “content you have personally created … that reflects your own voice, perspective, or expertise”. A persona that only reposts or slightly edits other people’s work does not qualify.

What it says about AI
“AI-generated content made with generic or unoriginal templates giving the impression of mass production without adding the creator’s original, authentic insights or perspective”
That is one of the things YouTube will not monetise. The same policy also names “channels that use AI-generated personas to deliver information on sensitive topics” such as health, law, money or politics. It allows “a series following a set of characters across episodes” where each video has its own storyline.
What people say
“YouTube stopped paying for AI content in July 2025.”
The rule is narrower The July 2025 change renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content”. It targets mass-produced, template content and AI personas giving advice on sensitive topics. It does not ban AI content as such.
For a persona account
Give each video its own idea, and do not let the persona act as an expert on health, law, money or politics.
What changed, and when
TikTokCreator Rewards Program replaces the Creativity Program beta
Rule changes for AI accounts on every platform, not only payouts, go into what changed, and when.
Before you apply with a persona account
Label the account first. Each platform has its own AI label, and the label matrix shows where it goes. A programme that pays for reach pays less when the platform shows you less.
Post your own work. TikTok, X and YouTube all exclude reposts and lightly edited copies. A persona with its own recurring ideas meets that rule. A feed of reposts does not.
Use your real details where the platform asks for them. TikTok asks for your real name and date of birth, and X pays out only after an identity check. The persona is the face of the account, but the person who gets paid is you.
Keep payouts out of your plan. Count them when they arrive. Plan your month on the money you control.
What we could not verify
Whether TikTok treats a persona’s display name as “a fake name” under the programme rules.
Whether X counts AI-generated images as content “created … using automated means”.
Who Instagram invites to Bonuses, and whether AI-labelled profiles are among them.
Facebook’s monetisation rules for AI content. Facebook is not covered on this page yet.

Questions people ask
Questions people ask
Does the TikTok Creator Rewards Program pay for AI videos?
TikTok has not published a rule against it. Its programme page, read on 5 October 2026, does not mention AI. It asks for original videos of at least one minute, "filmed, designed, and produced entirely by yourself", from a Personal Account with authentic account information.
Can an AI influencer get Instagram bonuses?
Only with an invitation. Instagram says Bonuses are "limited time and invite-only", and its Bonuses page says nothing about AI. A persona account should carry the AI-generated profile label, because unlabelled AI profiles can lose their place in recommendations.
What do you need for X Original Content Rewards?
An active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, at least 500 verified followers and at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days. You must be 18 or older and post original content.
Do AI influencers get paid by the platforms?
Some can, if they meet the same bar as any creator. None of the four platforms here bans AI personas from its payout programme in its published rules. For most persona operators this is side income. The main money comes from subscriptions and messages on Fanvue, the platform we use and recommend.
This page reads the platforms’ published rules. It does not promise that any account will be accepted or paid. The platforms decide that case by case.
